This year, National Small Business Week takes place April 28 - May 4, 2024, and is when the Small Business Association (SBA) officially recognizes the hard work, ingenuity, and dedication of small businesses, including the contributions to the economy. I know that most subscribers to Retail Details are small businesses, so let me be the first to wish you a happy small business week and I offer the following to help you start the month on a high note and hopefully end it that way, too!
Feel free to use any of these images in your Small Business Week promotions or on social media. (But please leave the @ retaildetails on the image. I‘m a small business, too.) This next one is ideal for accompanying a social media post or email blast that mentions Mother’s Day or Teacher Appreciation Day/Week or Nurse’s Week!
And here are two images that do not mention Small Business Week, but still get the shop local message across:
I developed the last one to emphasize the fact that small businesses contribute to what makes your community UNIQUE. I much prefer this approach to posts that try to make shoppers feel guilty. You may have heard me caution retailers in the past about shop local “guilt” posts. Not only are “guilt” posts negative in tone, they may be construed as desperate or indicate that you are about to go out of business. “Guilt” posts are a turnoff and can do more harm than good! Trust me on this one.
The month starts with Small Business Week, but May is filled with tons of promotional opportunities. Read on for a dozen+ more, plus bullet point takeaways to accompany your Small Business Week emails and social media posts…
