I miss Open & Closed signs. There was a time when someone flipped the sign from closed to open every morning and flipped it back as the last chore each evening. Boutiques had custom signs and budget shops had a generic plastic sign from the office supply store. But every store had a sign. Then they didn’t.
Fast forward to last week when a subscriber in Kansas wrote to me asking where I send retailers in search of Open signs these days and I realized that I could not remember the last time anyone asked me for sign sources.
