Display Idea: Scarf Season & Ladder Displays
November Recap: According to Substack’s analytics, in November readers particularly enjoyed the newsletter about Impulse Purchases and the post about Retail Event Debriefing. The most requested topic continues to be visual merchandising, so in November I wrote newsletters dedicated to Winter & New Year display ideas and Retail Signs and continued the Quick Tips Series that included some Pro Tips, too.
What’s Next?: I’ll likely continue the Quick Tips in December, as I know you are extra busy this time of year. I’m still planning a newsletter about the intricacies of family businesses for early 2025, so if you’d like to be interviewed for the article, let me know. I’m working on a retail tips newsletter about ideas for Valentine’s Day store windows and displays, too. So, it’s a great time to subscribe, if you are not already a paid subscriber. Scarf Season: a display idea for winter or spring!
Ladders are a versatile display fixture for displaying scarves, towels, throws/blankets, linens and even ornaments as seen in my Holiday Prep post. They come in all shapes, sizes and styles for most any type of store.
Pro Tip: Invest in attractive hooks when planning to hang things on a wall. Attention to details — like hooks — gives your merchandise added perceived value. (Added perceived value equals additional markup opportunities!)
Ladders are also one of my favorite ways to display pillows in a store…
Are there retail topics you’d like to learn more about? Leave suggestions as a comment on this post. I read every single comment. Tell me what issues or topics you’d like me to address in the retail tips newsletter or share some good news about the success you’ve had with a certain tip. I love to hear that!
As always, thanks for subscribing. I am so very privileged and grateful that my small business allows me to help other small business owners grow —and retail managers, visual merchandisers and buyers, too.
Stay retail inspired, friends. I hope November treated you well. Have a great December and Happy Holidays.

I own a toy store. Can you give visual merchandising tips for that? Thanks!
